The Asylum Day 24: Strength

The Asylum Day 24: Strength

Dec 8, 2011

So today is bitter sweet! I get my absolutely favorite Date of all, Asylum Strength, but it’s the last time I will get to go on this date and I’m not ready for it to end yet! There are definitely things about dating Asylum that I don’t like, but Strength is definitely not one of them. Strength makes me feel powerful, pumped, and ready to take on the world. I love bringing everything I’ve got to the table and really feeling the physicality of this workout. You feel like you are pushing hard and getting results and I love that. So I will be sad to see this date end but happy to have experienced it and glad to get to get to go on this wonderful Strength Date today!

The warm up was wonderful as usual and my form is getting really good! I am still using the 10lb weights for both the warm up and the workout itself. I have Bowflex Select Tech 552 Dumbbells, which are new for me, and so I need to get used to them. They are a little longer than I’d like which was a little awkward for some of the moves but overall I love them, the grip is wonderful and it just make changing weights a breeze.  It also allows you to incremental up your weight which is key for me. I rocked out the dumbbell rotations today. The Back Exercises went well, it was challenging on the Back Flys to manage the length of the dumbbell but my form looks so much better. The Chest Exercises were also a big improvement for me as I could maintain the moves a lot longer than I could the first time I did them. Still not crazy about the ending Frog Jump to One Legged Plank but what’s a girl to do!

So that’s it! No more Strength Dates for me! I am super excited to have almost completed this workout program, but truthfully will really miss this date and might have to sneak it in a few times over the next few weeks just to get over my withdrawals. I am happy to say that I have improved immensely since my first date with Strength. As you know my first date was the first time I had every really used a dumbbell before and to go from that to feeling comfortable and confident in my ability to incorporate weight training into my exercise routine is monumental. I did not progress in the amount of weight I used, I stuck with the 10lbs the entire time, however I was able to get more reps in, I had better form, and overall was just more successful from my first Strength Date to Now! So that’s my farewell to strength, check out the video, leave comments and I’ll see you all tomorrow for my last Anniversary Date with Game Day Overtime!
